Selbst ist die Frau, 2024
A 13-minute film following the day in the life of a mother and daughter. Alexa is a 65-year-old immigrant from Germany, and Selina is a 31-year-old woman with Down syndrome. Through the lens of a day in their lives together, the film invites viewers into an intimate examination of these two women, and explores universal themes of caretaking, belonging, and (in)dependence. My hope is that the film acts like amber, capturing these women as they are today, and that, when peered through, allows viewers to see their own relationships in new light.
