Vanessa King, Lead Product Design Manager

“In the year that I managed Liam I came to depend on him for many things that fell outside his stated role as a junior and then mid-level product designer, but that’s just who Liam is. Liam is the the single active participant on a quiet zoom call. Liam is the product designer that wakes up at 5am to talk to the team he volunteered to support in Germany. Liam is the person who upholds the intention of the design team ceremonies so that everyone on the team has access to fair and consistent feedback. Liam is the person everyone knows because he leads the LGBTQ+ ERG and the design team’s Culture Club. Liam is the person facilitating cross-functional collaboration in Miro that then gets translated into effective, implementable interface solutions. Liam is a catalyst for connection and growth and I personally benefited from being Liam’s manager. If you find yourself with the opportunity to work with him, I recommend you do yourself a favor and take that opportunity.”

Emma Peterson, Data Insights Engineer

Liam is an excellent Product Designer and collaborator. At Flatiron, we worked together on a team building a new product from scratch to empower internal SMEs as well as on a user research workstream to help guide the overall direction of some of our external products.
He is adept at resolving ambiguity and incorporating feedback from a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders – from software engineers to oncologists. He also does a great job of educating non-designers and bringing them into the design process. Finally, he’s always mindful of “smaller” details like spacing or color, which may not be immediately noticeable to every user but nonetheless have an impact on their experience. Overall, Liam is a very well-rounded designer and a wonderful coworker.”

Antonio Solano, Lead Product Designer

“I had the privilege to manage and collaborate with Liam for about 9 months. In that time, I witnessed many of Liams exceptional abilities as a designer. Liam is highly communicative, he is able to articulate what he is working on, what he needs, and what the scrum teams require of him. Liam is structured, and uses many visual artifacts to stay aligned with other designers and with stakeholders.
Liam also actively participated in many design critique sessions both as someone seeking feedback, but also as someone ready to jump in and provide articulate, objective, and actionable feedback based on best practices, design theory, or domain knowledge. On that note, Liam has acquired a vast amount of knowledge of the healthcare industry, data standards, players, and trends.
Liam's formal training in Human-Computer-Interaction coupled with his heightened sense of design ethics, interest in accessibility, and doing right by end-users make him a well rounded, strong, and highly competent designer. As a manager it was really enjoyable to work together on strengthtening his skills and finding new challenges for him.
Finally, I'd like to say that Liam is a self starter, has lots of initiative, and can help drive initiatives. For instance, together with him, we started working on a design system for data visualization components at Flatiron.”
